Welcome to the new and improved Marion & Ed Hughes Public Library website. We’re still fine tuning it, but we couldn’t wait to unveil our new look.
A while ago, the library staff made a decision to create a new look for the library’s website. We felt that our visitors expected more from the website than a presence that never changed. Our library is always changing! We are adding new services, presenting new programs and purchasing new materials for our collection. We felt that our website should reflect those changes. We also wanted the library's website to be more responsive when used on tablets and phones. So we partnered with the Houston Area Library Automated Network (HALAN) when they made the EBSCO Stacks platform available to us. We appreciate Fred Schumacher, Chief of HALAN, for making the decision to allow our library to use the Stacks platform. We’d like to thank Somer Newland, HALAN web designer, for her assistance as we learned the new platform. Her feedback as we developed concept and ideas into a reality was greatly appreciate.
Don’t expect the content of the pages to always be the same. Expect it to give you current, accurate information about the library. Look at it often and use it as your 24/7 Digital Branch of the library when you can’t visit us in person. Use it to find out what’s new at the library; to use the library’s online databases; to find what’s new in the collection; to access your library account; to check on the calendar for great library programs; and as a link to other sites. We hope you’ll explore our site to find out more about the library and its services and that you’ll visit it often to see what’s new.
