Sign-up

  • Register at the library on or after the 2019 program start date
  • Time read before the start of the program may not be submitted for credit.

Book Selection & Reading

  • You may come by the library any time during library hours to select books and audiobooks.
  • Books must be selected from the Marion & Ed Hughes Public Library collection. You cannot use books you have at home or from another library.
  • You may use books and audiobooks at TumbleBookLibrary and Overdrive.
  • Books must be on child’s reading level. Children who have not yet learned to read will receive credit for time spent reading to them.
  • Children reading to their younger siblings may count the time they read towards their own reading time.
  • Participants will record time spent reading on their reading logs. Reading logs can be taken home, but credit for time spent reading will not be given unless participants bring their logs with them to the library.
  • Credit will not be given for times listed on lost reading logs. If a reading log is lost, the record will start again with no time.

Certificate & Prizes

  • Certificates will be given to all those who have read at least 2 hours. They can be picked up when the participant receives their first prize.
  • A limit of one prize per week will be given for time spent reading.
  • Participants must have read (or be read to) at least 2 hours during the week in order to be eligible for a prize.  Times don't need to be concurrent but may be combined or split.
  • Children will have until the last day of the program to pick up their final prize. No prizes will be issued after that date.
