Additional Biographical Information   Per Veteran: Joined the Texas National Guard in 1969 in the height of the Vietnam war, as a Cook-paratrooper. After cook school, unable to pass the physical to jump out of planes. Sent home to get fit, but before I could return broke my leg in a motorcycle crash, they put a 13in pin in my tibia and was disqualified from jump school. The sad thing I really wanted to jump out of the plane. Spent 3.5 years in a control group in a file cabinet in Washington, D.C. Then I was reassigned to a chemical warfare unit in Beaumont, TX where I became the unit clerk, never got to play with chemicals. Finished my six years there until I typed my own discharge orders.
