Veterans Park Project

Veterans Park in Nederland, TX is a memorial space to honor the brave men and women who have served the USA since the Texas War for Independence in 1836. The concept for the park developed during a conversation between City Manager Chris Duque and Angela Fanette, Parks and Recreation Supervisor.

Veterans Park honors everyone who has worn a uniform with pride and dignity: anyone who is currently serving our great country, anyone who has served in the past during war or peace, and anyone who survived conflict or perished in it. It follows a long-standing tradition in which began during World War II when Nederland residents banded together to create the Nederland Honor Roll. To visit the Veterans Park webpages, click here.

This vision includes providing an online database so that people may learn more about the history of the veterans being honored in the Park. Having accurate records to add veterans’ names and to describe their personal stories will be an integral part of this process. The database will include a variety of photographs, documents, as well as interviews conducted as part of the Library's oral history project. You can access the Database from the Veterans Park webpages.

To submit a name for inclusion in the database, please fill out a Veterans Information Form and return it to the Marion & Ed Hughes Public Library at 2712 Nederland Avenue, Nederland, TX 77627. To download a copy of the form, click the format you need below:
